Mermaid Image for "The Enchanted Glen" Stocking!

I've been working on a mermaid image for our "Sur Le Mer/Mermaids" stocking this week at The Enchanted Glen and think it turned out rather nicely!

The image is in the public domain and is one that a kind lady scanned from books printed prior to 1923. I tried coloring the individual elements in the image and found that I preferred a more artsy look with different colors in the background, some special effects, and a wonderful texture.

I had a hard time deciding on a name for it since it's the first time I've done anything in this style. However, after reading the definition for "Art Nouveau", it seemed to fit well into that category. :)

I was hoping to work on a few more images but didn't quite find the time. (I did enjoy spending the day with my family though! Happy 21st Birthday Tiffany!)

I finished up some fun new printable images for our gnome stocking at "The Enchanted Glen"!

My personal favorite is the gardening one (don't you love the little cartoony gnome?!), followed closely by the Daddy Gnome. Teehee. :)
