For Christmas I made pillowcases for my children and nephews. I used one of my very favorite fabrics that I designed and had printed through Spoonflower...Minecraft!
I did a simple monogram with swatch fabric with the first letter of each of their names. The kiddos loved their pillowcases and have been using them ever since. :)

Spoonflower Wrapping Paper
My wrapping paper arrived today. It's beautiful, except for the large bend in the middle. :(
Spoonflower has always been great to work with in the past. So I'm contacting them for a resolution!
Edited to add: Less than an hour later and I've already heard back from them! They're shipping out a rush order to replace the wrapping paper. Love working with Spoonflower!

Spoonflower "Film Noir" Contest
Today's special: film noir!
When I think of film noir, I see images of shadowy figures peeking between the slats of window blinds. Oh the suspense! The mystery! What will happen next?!

FINISHED! Minecraft Halloween Costumes
Here are the kiddos, all decked out and ready to go Trick-Or-Treating!
They were so thrilled with their costumes. The fabric I designed matched the purchased heads really well, and I'm happy to have comfortable costumes they can wear again and again; my kiddos love playing dress-up!

Minecraft Halloween Costumes
Trying
on their Minecraft Halloween costumes.
I made the fabric at Spoonflower, had it printed, cut out and sewed the patterns today, and bought the heads through jinx at Amazon! Pretty happy with how they're turning out and the kids are ecstatic!

Spoonflower Fabric Top 100 Hot Sellers List!
Today one of my fabrics made the Spoonflower Top 100 Hot Sellers List! I'm so excited. It's my Yellow Brick Road design (one of my personal favorites).
Their website says, "Hot Sellers is comprised of Marketplace purchases. These are designs that are flying off our printers as you view them! It's a great way to see what Marketplace shoppers are purchasing."
In other news, if you haven't yet had a chance, please take a minute to vote for my Minecraft Creeper Costume in the 1-yard contest. Voting ends tomorrow. Thanks so much!

Halloween Costume Fabric Contest on Spoonflower!
We've entered another fabric contest and would love your vote!
This contest is to design a costume pattern that fits on 1 yard of fabric. My boys are obsessed with the game "Minecraft" and begged to be "Minecraft Steve" and a "Creeper" for Halloween. The cardboard heads are easy enough, but I haven't been able to find actual pixel fabric anywhere. Hooray for being able to design my own fabric!
I measured my boys and decided to make jumpsuits for each of them. Then I designed the fabric to match their respective characters. And since their little sister loves to be like them, I thought she'd enjoy a complete Creeper costume of her own. I love how it turned out! I squeezed every last bit of design I could onto a yard of Spoonflower's new Performance Knit fabric and I can't wait to get it and sew it up.
The above picture is the fabric/pattern design for her. It includes a: green pixel creeper jumpsuit front, back, neck binding, and sleeves, creeper mask/hat, black pixel shoe covers, TNT trick-or-treat bag with a black pixel strap, sew-in labels, instructions and a picture diagram (to show how to sew it all together), and a little creeper plushie with his own mini TNT trick-or-treat bag!!!
The following picture (not in the contest) is for my son's Halloween costumes. It includes the front of the jumpsuits, neck binding, and sleeve fronts for "Minecraft Steve" and a green "Creeper", brown pixel toolbelt for Steve, black pixel shoe covers for both costumes, sew-in labels, and mini plushies of "Minecraft Steve", a "Creeper", pickaxe, and TNT. All of those fit on a yard of the knit fabric as well. For the jumpsuit backs I plan to use a solid-colored knit.
I've ordered my fabrics and am trying to wait patiently till they arrive. :) I'll post pics and a photo tutorial as soon as they come!
Note: my fabric designs are not official Minecraft fabrics. I am not affiliated with Minecraft or Mojang. I just made a few designs for my kiddos for fun. :) If you'd like to know more about Minecraft, here's the link to their site: https://minecraft.net/

Minecraft Inspired Collage/Ready-Made Quilt Fabric
I'm having such a fun time designing these 8-bit pixel fabrics! Tonight I finished up a cut-and-sew (aka "cheater") quilt, with input from my local Minecraft experts (my boys). I think it will make for an awesome Christmas present!
Clik here for to my Spoonflower shop :)

And We're Back!
What we've been up to since my last post:
- September: pregnant with our 4th child (yay!); quite sick with all-day "morning" sickness (boo)
- December: finally feeling better. Christmas vacation with the whole family to California!
- Jan-May: preparing for our baby's birth
- Springtime: enjoying our new baby; last days of school
- Summertime: vacation to Maine! And a ton of work (and fun) singing with my sisters, creating music videos, and getting our singing group "GaleSong" going again.
Check out our pics and happenings here:
